Overview
Symptoms
Warts are small rough growths on the skin that usually go away on their own. They come in all shapes and sizes and can affect any part of the body but are more common on the hands. They can be spread to other people through close skin contact or contact with contaminated objects or surfaces.
Causes
Warts are caused by certain strains of the human papilloma virus (HPV).
Treatments
Most warts will eventually clear up without treatment but treatments available in the pharmacy include paints (Salactol), gels (Bazuka)and cryogenic sprays (Wartner). These treatments can take up to three months to work and may irritate the skin.
